Every move matters.
Promoting Kings and Queens brings the focus, warmth, and quiet joy of chess into retirement and assisted-living communities. Our goal is to keep growing this chess community, bringing boards to more homes and more residents along the way.
Our goals with PKQ
What we are trying to accomplish
Promote cognitive engagement through chess.
Encourage social interaction and reduce isolation among older adults.
Provide free, accessible chess instruction and friendly competition for elderly residents.
Inspire young volunteers to make a positive impact in their communities.
Our Mission
To increase cognitive engagement by promoting chess
Out of many board games, chess stood out. Simply because it’s not just a board game, but a tool to increase cognitive function, pattern recognition and many more health benefits. PKQ is dedicated to bringing the benefits of chess to retirement communities. By encouraging strategic thinking, memory, concentration, and problem-solving, chess provides an engaging way for older adults to keep their minds active while enjoying meaningful social interaction. Our mission is not only to share the game we love but also to bridge generations through service and compassion
Chess is the gymnasium of the mind.— Blaise Pascal
French mathematician who invented the SI unit of atmospheric pressure, the pascal.
